Designers Witek Stefaniak and Anielka Zdanowicz come up with an interesting new home audio design concept that combines a stereo speaker and a CD/DVD shelf. The object becomes the item of furniture by a simple arrangement of dvd and books. Two suggestion of shape give the possibility to arrange the interior in the modern style and to achieve a good quality of home video amplification. The idea looks good, and practical especially that you can save some space in a very stylish and useful way …to bad that this is just a concept for now. – Via

Today I’ve found a new really interesting piece that could be placed in this list that is called the Woolen Lamp and is designed by Jessica Nebel. “Wool-light” is a ceiling sculpture which exudes soft light from folds of pure wool, thus promoting a warm atmosphere around it. Revealing a unique structure of shadows within its fluffy tufts it is an invitation to sit back and gaze into the landscape of ever-changing patterns. ”

Two Awesome Pieces of Cardboard Furniture

Some time ago we posted about the “30 of the Most Creative Bookshelves Designs” and today I’ve found two incredible pieces of furniture that are made from cardboard on AT. These pieces are made using a construction technique that Eric Guiomar developed after looking for affordable and lightweight seating. These two pieces look awesome and they are extremely cheap, because they are made o cardboard …and in this economy I’m pretty sure that maybe someone will transform this idea into a business.

Horchow Mirrored Furniture

Mirrors do help give a living area the illusion of space. They also help brighten up a room by reflecting light. But if mirrored tiles on walls seem dated and even tacky to you, consider the selection of stylish mirrored furniture from Horchow. They are even better in some ways than stainless steel fixtures which give very muted reflections. The dramatic focal pieces are best in the hallway or in other prominent spots. The furniture has been imported from various sources so the construction materials vary but they all use mirror veneers. These are luxury priced items so be warned! – Via

Temperature Sensitive Glass Tiles

Moving Color is an innovative technology which takes glass tiles to new heights in terms of interior design. These are temperature sensitive textured glass tiles which change color with the ambient, body or water temperature. So when someone touches them or if warm water from a shower hits them, the tiles then literally “bloom with color”!

The manufacturer offer tiles in different sizes and for all sorts of applications - wall, floor and counter tops. There are also texture and base color options which allows you to custom the look you want. Clients can also choose the activation temperature of the tiles which will then go through 3 shimmering phases, each with a 6 – 10° rise in temperature. ”Once the temperature peak is passed, the base color returns and remains the same until the temperature drops.”

How much is this going to cost? It’s approximately $17 per standard size 4″ x 4″ x 3/8″ tile or $149/ft with reductions for volume discounts. It’s not cheap because the tiles are all individually hand made from recycled glass but you have to admit, they are “cool” when hot! – Via

Shelving Only When You Want

Large blank wall? No problem. Fill them with shelves so you can artfully display and store your things. But if you could also rearrange shelves without having to remove and reinstall the units all the better. Sebastian Errazuriz’s clever Repisa N5 allows you to do just that because you can bring down selected parts of the shelving unit. Change your mind? Just move them back up and pick another section. Or if you’re a pack rat, flip all the shelves down for maximum use.

Ken Tomita’s Visually Appealing Bamboo Tables

Original Coffee Table : Kersplat Coffee Table by James Ian Killinger

Designed by James Ian Killinger, a 2008 graduate of Iowa State University’s College of Design the Kersplat Coffee Table is a pure example of creativity. A piece of furniture so simple, but so original, guaranteed to get attention. Now here are a few words about this coffee table from James : “A liquid’s life is an ephemeral one. Its molecular structure determines that its movements are transient and fleeting—chaotic, yet bound by the laws of physics. There is a simple elegance to the moment liquid collides with a denser surface. I wanted to hold onto that moment a little longer.Capture it. Examine it.B elieve it or not, this piece was actually crafted out of poplar wood. After shaping the individual “splatters tendrils,” they were joined to a base and the piece was finessed further. Ensuring that each of the four contact splatters were level and even was paramount. The table was then painted in a high gloss red and topped off by a custom cut piece of glass.

Minus Tio’s My Crew Table

A resourceful furniture piece by Swedish designers Ingrid Svensson and Olle Wingard of the design company Minus Tio, My Crew is a table that is meant to be pieced together like panels for every usage imaginable. The stark contrast is color and noticeably diagonal design is clearly meant to the more thoughtful, creative urban designers who are looking to add creative complementary accents to a contrasting space without burdening you with the process of matching color. The My Crew could serve as really fun coffee tables, a creatively arranged urban dining table, interesting outdoor serving tables or accent tables for lamps or books in a bedroom. Honestly, I think that these would be a resourceful, more contemporary accent for a child’s playroom or bedroom. But hey, don’t let my preference limit your creativity.

Mannequin Lamps

Daniel Loves Objects of Singapore designs lamps like no other. Called At Your Command, these really cool lamps can be manipulated into different postures as they are jointed. Imagine how much fun you could have arranging the lamps. A single one could be posed on its knees or leaning against the wall if you feel like you need a prayer or two after a rotten day. Group a few of them together and you could tell a story with a lighting scene. It’ll be a grand conversation piece!

The designer removed the wires “for visualization sake”. But even with the wires in, the At Your Command lamps are still a model of imaginative design.
